Movements that should remain solitary are drawn into convergence. Popelier’s piece resists beauty for its own sake. It is a study of aging: reflexes slowing, accidents waiting, time accelerating. What once felt infinite now contracts; what once seemed steady now rushes forward. The stars shine, but their brilliance is precarious, casting shadows that speak of vitality pressed against fragility. The painting heightens the sensation of time running out, not through clocks or calendars but through motion and inevitability.
